I can't remember where I saw this idea on how to make play make-up, but I knew I wanted to try it myself. I dug through my old make-up that I just couldn't bear to throw away and found some good containers, washed and dried them, and used nail polish to fill them up.
These are some of the things I started with. The lipstick didn't make the cut, but I did clean out a lip gloss container and leave it empty.
Here are the finished pieces. I also cleaned out a nail polish bottle so my daughter can pretend to paint her nails.
Some tips:
Fill the containers up to the brim b/c the nail polish shrinks down when it dries.
Pop any air bubbles with a toothpick if you care (I didn't).
Put these things outside to dry - I did mine in the garage. They stink like crazy for a long time. I think I had mine outside for more than a week, and they still kind of smell. I will probably spray them with a clear coat of paint or something.
I am a child of the 80's, so I really like this awesome, blue eyeshadow.
